Description
A young harbour seal looks as if it is floating on the water of the St. Lawrence Seaway, when really he's lying on a rock that just barely breaks the surface.
Harbour and grey seals can be viewed from the shore in Parc nationale du Bic in Rimouski, Que. In the summer and early fall, seal-watching is one of the park's main attractions. During low tide, the seals can be found in the Cap Carbiou area, where this photo was taken. Then when the tide rises, they move to the Pointe aux Epinettes. Be warned, though, that if you visit the Cap Caribous area, it is a very steep hike down to the beach.
